Sauber Family August 2013

"Being a family means you are part of something wonderful.
It means you will love and be loved for the rest of your life.
No matter what."

The Sauber family.  I had the pleasure of photographing this family at the park in my hometown.  The quote above seems appropriate for this little family of 4 as they so obviously love each other very much.

Mom has been my friend and colleague for many years.  She is a person you want to know!  She is kind, she always has a smile and she cares deeply about the people in her life... her students, her friends and her family.   She is strong and gentle at the same time.  I admire her.  I am honored to call her my friend, colleague and (by marriage) part of my family.

Photographing her family was a joy!

Sometimes, I feel humbled that I'm allowed to collect memories for families that capture how they feel about each other.  Look at the photos...  can you see it?

Ethan's Senior Pictures Aug. 2013

"Play like a CHAMPION today."

After shooting Ethan's senior photos, I couldn't help but think of this quote.  I used it a few years ago in a little video I made for my nephew after his baseball season.  When I googled it, I found that it is posted in the Notre Dame Football locker room.  Wikipedia also tells me that it originally came from a University of Oklahoma football coach in the 1940's.  Nevertheless, it seems appropriate for Ethan's photo session.

We took some traditional senior photos at a lovely property out in the country.   The weather was strange all evening.  We had white clouds, dark clouds, sunshine and even a few raindrops.  This made for some really interesting lighting!  Most photographers I know are always looking for the best light... and I'm no different.  So, on this night, if I didn't like the light, all I had to do was wait for a few minutes and it changed completely.

The second part of this session took place at the High School on the football and baseball fields.  Hence, the quote above.  This senior is an excellent athlete and it was easy to see that he was completely at home on both fields.  I got some great photos as you can see below!

We plan to add a few more photos (he also plays basketball) to complete his Senior Picture set.   ...and I'm sure he will PLAY LIKE A CHAMPION throughout his Senior Year!
